The category name therefore describes the origin of a sequence, not a property or an application. The fragments collected here range from a tripeptide to a pentadecapeptide, and the general structural background is summarised in the encyclopaedia article on the peptide class of molecules.

BPC-157 is a pentadecapeptide, that is a chain of fifteen amino acids, whose sequence corresponds to a section of a protein found in gastric juice. TB-500 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, usually cited as residues 17 to 23. KPV is a tripeptide of lysine, proline and valine and corresponds to the C-terminal three residues of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone; the wider family it derives from is listed under melanocortins and copper peptides.

All three are supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial. Incoming goods are recorded with their delivery date and storage location, so that a vial can be matched to the documentation that belongs to it. The material is tested at regular intervals by an external, independent laboratory, using HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity, plus heavy-metal and endotoxin testing. The certificates that exist are published in the lab area, each naming the tested product and the test date; material without a published certificate is marked as pending. The guide to reading a certificate of analysis describes how such a document is structured.

In the dry state the material is kept cool, dark and sealed, as detailed in the guide to storing lyophilised peptides. Dispatch is from Germany within the EU, securely packed.
